Many people today look at church membership with various opinions.  Many have a misunderstanding of it, especially how it changes in meaning and structure in different churches.  At Weatherly we encourage individuals to become an “official member”.  No one is required to do so and participation in ministry is open to members and non-members alike.  However, I believe membership in a local body helps an individual and family to become anchored and to feel more connected than they may otherwise.  Membership at Weatherly is required if you would like to hold a position as a church Treasurer, Council of Advisor or Trustee.  The church government is congregational.  This means that all major decisions are placed before the Membership for ratification / approval.  Therefore, to have a voice in these decisions, membership would be required.

How an individual becomes a member is simple.  All you need to do is to take the attached form, print it, fill it out, and submit it to the Pastor.  He will in turn present it to the Council of Advisors and subject to their approval, you will become an “official member” of Weatherly Assembly.

Pastor Nick would be glad to speak to you concerning membership and to answer any additional questions you may have.  Give him a call.  The church office number is 256.883.9520 or email him at
